Job DescriptionJob Title: Lab Director (Clinical Laboratory) | PermanentLocation: Junction, TexasSchedule: Monday–Friday (7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; flexibility required) + rotating weekend on-callEmployment Type: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: Starting at $80,000 per annumPosition OverviewA rural acute-care hospital is seeking a hands-on Lab Director to lead daily laboratory operations while actively performing bench work. This is a working manager role ideal for a leader who balances administrative oversight with technical expertise. The Lab Director will supervise a small team and ensure high standards in quality, compliance, and patient testing services—especially within Blood Bank.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership and operational oversight of the Clinical LaboratoryPerform routine MT/MLT bench duties as needed (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank)Supervise and support 3 full-time techs and 1 PRNEnsure compliance with CLIA, CAP, TJC, and state regulationsManage quality assurance, proficiency testing, and policy/procedure updatesOversee staffing schedules, training, competency assessments, and performance managementMaintain inventory, equipment maintenance, and vendor coordinationParticipate in rotating weekend on-call coverageCollaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership to ensure efficient lab servicesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related fieldMT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certificationPrior laboratory leadership/supervisory experienceStrong hands-on experience in Blood BankKnowledge of regulatory compliance: CLIA, CAP, TJCAbility to work both administratively and technically in the labPreferredPrevious experience in a rural or small hospital settingExperience managing small lab teamsIf you’re a certified MT/MLS with leadership experience and strong Blood Bank expertise looking for a stable, impactful role in a close-knit hospital setting, we want to hear from you.Apply today or send your resume directly to [your email] for immediate consideration.
