Position Summary:As part of the Millennium Medical Group clinical team, an Ob Hospitalist embraces the following focus on delivering a quality Ob Hospitalist program:(1) Delivery of quality care that is evidence-based and consistent with the corevalues of MMG,(2) A spirit of service to others including building and maintaining relationships with medical staff,nursing staff and hospital leadership,(3) A spirit of service to the Ob Hospitalist team,(4) Connecting to our medicalgroup network, and(5) financial stewardship. This position will be part of a team of clinicians at the assignedsite working together with the support of the Site Director of Ob Hospitalists.Position Responsibilities : EssentialTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Delivery of Quality CareRemain abreast of changes in medical evidence and apply relevant changes to medical practiceDeliver obstetrical and gynecological care to patients including but not limited to providing contraceptiveservices (at hospitals that provide contraceptive services)Ensure consistent performance of clinical services in accordance with program definitionDeliver direct patient care to high-risk patients including situations where Maternal-Fetal-Medicine supportmay only be available by telephoneParticipate in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols at the assigned siteEnsure that practice consistently conforms to hospital guidelines, policies, and protocolsEnsure that delivery of careParticipate in peer reviews or investigation of clinical incidents as requestedCollaborate with team to ensure hospitalist participation in overall quality initiativesEnsure daily in-person handoffs between clinicians using a standard formatParticipate daily in Labor and Delivery board roundsParticipate in clinical drillsCollaborate with MMG quality department as requestedCompletion of required educational courses (e.g. ACLS, BLS, NRP, FHR training)Completion of required corporate trainingA Spirit of Service to OthersEnsure that patient encounters meet the needs of the patient and their familyTreat others with respect and courtesyEnsure timely response to calls/pagesSupport community physicians and midwives through clinical assistance as requested including practice coverage as requested and as safely availableParticipate in hospital meetings (e.g. department meetings, peer review, quality improvement)Active involvement in the daily activities of the labor and delivery unitReinforce the clinical aspects of MMG value proposition at the hospitalCollaborate with Site Director of Ob Hospitalists, and MMG program manager.Arrive on time for assigned coverage periodsWork with the team to ensure that there is 100% schedule coverage at assigned siteFiscal StewardshipEnsure that patients are seen in a timely fashionEnsure accurate and timely documentation in the medical record; all charting must be completed by the end of the assigned shiftEnsure accurate and timely completion and submission of billing information by the end of the assigned shiftEnsure accurate and timely submission of requested quality dataCollaborate with the hospital and team to deliver care that efficiently utilizes healthcare resourcesCollaborate and support community physicians and midwives to help maximize their practice efficiencyCommunicate regularly with Site Director of Ob Hospitalists to discuss program concerns or opportunitiesParticipate in monthly team meetingsEssential Skills/Credentials/Experience/EducationBoard Certified or Active Candidate Ob/Gyn PhysicianLicensed to practice medicine in the state of assigned siteHighly relational, able to build strong rapport and positive working relationship with all stakeholders(Hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nurses, staff physicians, and MMG corporate staff)• Team oriented, service minded, goal focused individual who believes in MMG mission• Excellent verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education• Significant experience with obstetrical emergency careMental and Physical Demands (per ADA guidelines)Sitting for long periods of timePosition also requires walking, standing, stooping or kneelingRegularly required to use computer keyboard, mouse and telephoneLift and carry objects such as books and files weighing up to 15 poundsClose vision work and ability to adjust focus
