Security Systems & Access Control Technician *Verde Security LLC | Columbus, OH + Travel* *Full-Time | $25.00–$35.00 per hour* About the Position Verde Security is looking for an *experienced Security Systems & Access Control Technician* who can do more than pull cable. We need a technician who understands the complete system — *access control, locking hardware, low-voltage wiring, networking, software, and troubleshooting* — and can confidently diagnose problems in the field. The ideal candidate has experience working with commercial electronic security systems and is comfortable troubleshooting both the *physical hardware at the door and the technology behind it.* What You'll Do * Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial access control systems * Install and troubleshoot card readers, controllers, power supplies, REX devices, door contacts, maglocks, electric strikes, and related locking hardware * Diagnose door and locking-hardware issues * Install and service CCTV/IP camera systems, intrusion alarms, and intercom systems * Program and configure security devices and systems * Troubleshoot IP/network connectivity issues * Work with PoE devices, network switches, IP addresses, and connected security equipment * Run, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e/Cat6 and low-voltage wiring * Diagnose power, wiring, hardware, software, and communication failures * Read wiring diagrams, system drawings, and manufacturer documentation * Complete system testing and commissioning * Work directly with customers to explain issues and completed repairs * Accurately document service calls and completed work * Travel to customer locations as required We're Looking for Someone With * *2+ years of commercial access control, electronic security, or related low-voltage experience* * Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting *access control systems* * Working knowledge of *electrified locking hardware* * Strong electrical and low-voltage troubleshooting skills * Understanding of *IP networking, PoE, switches, and IP addressing* * Experience troubleshooting systems using a logical, step-by-step approach * Ability to work independently in the field * Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools * Professional communication skills * Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record * Ability to pass a background check * Ability to work from ladders and lifts and in active construction environments Experience We Especially Value Experience with any of the following is a major plus: * OpenPath / Avigilon Alta * Brivo * PDK * Alarm.com / Qolsys * Avigilon * Axis * Ava * Solink * IP camera/VMS platforms * Commercial intrusion systems * Intercom and entry systems * DoorKing or gate-access systems * Electric strikes, maglocks, crash bars, REX devices, and door hardware * Network troubleshooting * Fiber and structured cabling * OSHA, ESA, NICET, BICSI, manufacturer, or related certifications *You do not need experience with every platform listed above. We care more about strong access-control fundamentals, troubleshooting ability, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.* What Success Looks Like We're looking for someone who can arrive at a service call where a door, camera, controller, or security device isn't working and determine *why*. You should be comfortable determining whether the problem is caused by the *lock, reader, wiring, power supply, controller, network, programming, or software* — and then taking the appropriate steps to resolve it. Compensation *$25.00–$35.00 per hour*, based on verified experience and technical ability. Higher compensation within the range will be considered for technicians with strong access-control programming, locking-hardware, networking, troubleshooting, and independent project experience.
