Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager
Job Description: Design, implement, and continuously improve a global trade compliance program aligned with high-growth, multi-market operationsCheck out the role overview below If you are confident you have got the right skills and experience, apply today.Ensure compliance with import/export regulations across key regions (e.g., EU, US, APAC), including customs, sanctions, and export controlsClassify micromobility products (e-scooters, e-bikes, IoT devices, spare parts, and lithium-ion batteries) using HS codes and determine duties and tariffsOversee compliance related to the international movement of lithium-ion batteries, including hazardous materials (dangerous goods) regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR)Manage export control processes, including licensing requirements for embedded software, GPS/IoT components, and encryption technologiesLead restricted party screening processes across suppliers, logistics partners, and customersPartner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Hardware, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure compliant and efficient global distributionSupport market entry into new countries by assessing trade compliance requirements and regulatory barriersProvide detailed analytics around business financial impacts for global duties and tariffs for financial planning and budgeting.Manage Duty Drawback and Tariff refund processes.Monitor global regulatory changes (e.g., sustainability rules, battery regulations, recycling directives) and advise on business impactConduct internal audits, risk assessments, and post-entry reviews; implement corrective actions where neededManage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and relevant government authoritiesSet scalable methods for classification, compliance workflows, and audit readiness across key marketsInfluence cross-functional decisions by translating regulatory requirements into clear business trade-offs (e.g., cost, speed, risk)Lead investigations and resolution of compliance issues, disclosures, or auditsDevelop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders across global teams.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)6–10+ years of experience in global trade compliance, ideally within hardware, mobility, automotive, or consumer electronics industriesStrong knowledge of customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions regimes across multiple jurisdictionsDirect experience handling battery shipments and dangerous goods compliance strongly preferredExperience with HS classification, origin determination, and valuation methodologiesFamiliarity with trade compliance systems and ERP platformsProfessional certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, or equivalent) are a plusAbility to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, and operationally complex environmentStrong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindsetExcellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder managementHigh attention to detail with the ability to scale processes globallyStrong communication skills, including the ability to translate regulations into actionable guidanceProactive, hands-on approach with a builder mentality, able to create scalable processes while staying close to day-to-day operations.Benefits: Comprehensive Health & Wellness: A choice of medical, dental, and vision plans.
