POSITION SUMMARY Under supervision from the Safety Officer, the Safety Engineer implements the FCL Safety program to prevent or correct unsafe practices in accordance with OSHA, Federal law, and state laws. The Safety Engineer is an integral part of the team offering training and support to production and operations staff to ensure a safe environment for FCL employees and subcontractors.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe following is a description of the general duties associated with the position. Management has a right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time; therefore, this job description is subject to change at any time.JOB CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):Conducts and coordinates safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, best practices, and laws.Knowledgeable in Safety laws and upcoming proposed regulations.Conducts jobsite visits ensuring implementation of Safety Policies.Responsibilities:Conduct monthly safety training for FCL employeesConduct random safety inspections on all job sites each monthNotify subcontractors of necessary hazard remediationEducate employees on changes to OSHA regulations or current OSHA trendsCreate, manage, and communicate safety reports to the Safety Officer, Project Manager, and company ExecutivesInterface with OSHA and other regulatory agenciesAccident/incident investigationMaintain records of site inspections, incident reports/investigations, etc.Work with FCL field staff to improve job site safety practicesRelationship Building:Builds productive relationships with team members by acting with the highest level of ethics integrity and professionalism.Develops trust and confidence through support, open and frequent communication, and understanding of safety concerns on a construction jobsite.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL:Mobility on and around construction sites and inside the office.Works in inclement weather/high noise level at times during site visits.Work at a desk or computer screen with keyboard for extended periods of time.Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSESBachelor's Degree in an Occupational Safety and Health discipline, or equivalent and relevant professional safety experience.A minimum of OSHA 30 Hour training in Construction Safety and HealthFirst Aid/CPR/AED and BBP training and willingness to become a trainerKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESExtensive knowledge of construction safety regulations at the Federal, State, and Local level.Ability to effectively communicate hazards and remediation methods with subcontractors in a professional mannerAbility to work efficiently in various auditing and computer software (CMiC, iAuditor, Word, Powerpoint, etc.)Current driver's license with ability to operate vehicleAbility to travel to offices out of state as assigned.
