Let's take a closer look at the role.Job DescriptionThe Rail Worker is responsible for safely loading and securing freight to railcars, performing routine equipment inspections, and maintaining a clean, compliant work area. This position requires hands-on use of various tools, operation of trucks and forklifts, and adherence to safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and internal quality standards.Shift Information Swing Shift 4 by 4Full-time positionFlexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidaysWork may include outdoor exposure and varying weather conditionsSome tasks require working at heights greater than 4' with use of PFPS (Personal Fall Protection System)Key ResponsibilitiesOperate forklifts and trucks to transport customer orders and load them onto railcars using pneumatic and gas-powered tools (e.g., chainsaw, nail gun, tensioner, hammer).Inspect, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment; promptly report any malfunctions or hazards.Follow all Safe Job Instructions (SJIs), AAR loading guidelines, and federal, state, and local rail operation regulations.Maintain a clean and orderly rail area and assist with general yard and mill work as needed.Communicate with supervisors and team members, and report any issues, incidents, or hazards immediately.Work EnvironmentOutdoor and rail yard environment with exposure to weather, dust, and noisePhysical job involving standing, lifting, tool use, and working at heightsCollaborative, team-oriented atmosphereFast-paced and safety-conscious operations settingQualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.ExperiencePrior experience in rail yard, warehouse, or industrial setting a plusForklift operation experience preferredAbility to safely operate pneumatic and gas-powered toolsFamiliarity with railcar loading standards (AAR guidelines) is a plusMust complete all required safety and compliance trainingPersonality TraitsStrong attention to detail and safety awarenessDependable and self-motivatedTeam player with strong communication skillsCustomer service-oriented and adaptable to changing tasksAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentAdditional InformationPay/Benefits/Perks$19 HourlyAccrue up to five days PTO in first year.
