Fire Alarm System Technician

Job SummaryMaintains, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and installs fire alarm systems and components, including detection systems and pre-action systems. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building codes.Major Job ResponsibilitiesPerform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems and componentsRespond to emergency service calls during regular business hours and off-hoursWorks with Getty Engineering, Security, contractors, and inspectors for required LAFD Regulation 4 inspectionsDiagnose and troubleshoot system faults, wiring issues, and component failuresEnsure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes and safety regulationsInspects completed work to ensure compliance with local building and safety codesStay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changesMaintain accurate service records, reports, and documentationCollaborate with other technicians, electricians, and safety inspectorsUpgrade fire alarm systems to meet new technological and safety standardsQualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentCalifornia driver's license with less than three DMV pointsAssociate's degree in electronic technology or a related field strongly preferred, or training as a journey level low-voltage electricianNICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or equivalent strongly preferred5+ years' experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systemsKnowledge of local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulationsTraining in electronics and computer networksKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsProficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applicationsAbility to use a computerized work order tracking system and track materials usedFamiliarity with various fire alarm system manufacturers, such as Simplex and EdwardsKnowledge of smoke control systems and interface with building management systems (BMS)Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus (including 70 and 72)Ability to work on ladders and liftsAbility to stoop, stand for periods of time, work in tight spaces, and lift 50 lbs.Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier, Simplex) a plusExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsBasic knowledge of fire alarm system programmingKnowledge of pre-action fire sprinkler systemsBenefits and PerksHere are just some examples that Getty offers/provides for full-time employees:Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverage, starting on date of hire.
