Associate Professor, Criminal JusticeApply now Job no: 494785Work type: Full Time FacultyLocation: Multiple LocationsCategories: FacultyJob Description:Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor's degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a full-time Criminal Justice instructor. The successful candidate will be required to travel and teach Criminal Justice credit and workforce development classes at any Horry-Georgetown Technical College campus location. This individual will report to the Academic Chair for Public Service in the School of Public Service and Teacher Education and will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not intended to be exhaustive).Develop and prepare materials for classroom instructionDeveloping program course instructional packages (syllabi), learning outcomes, goals and objectivesEvaluating students' progress in attaining learning outcomes, goals, and objectives through appropriate assessmentDeveloping and implementing plans to improve student success and job placementMaintaining program certification requirements, as appropriatePreparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reportsMaintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferencesEnsuring safety and security requirements are met in the training areaMeeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of studentsProviding academic advisement to studentsParticipating in academic term registrationsAssist in the cooperative efforts in the criminal justice community, including agency partners.Assist in the development and instruction of training for criminal justice partnersParticipating in program marketing efforts.Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration. Must fully embrace the responsibility for maintaining an acceptable number of students within related programs.Advertised Salary:Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave.Minimum Requirements:A Master's Degree from a regional accredited college or university in criminal justice, public safety, criminology, or administration of justice, or a Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 18 graduate semesters hours in courses prefixed as criminal justice, public safety, criminology, or administration of justice is required. Experience in criminal justice as a law enforcement officer or practitioner is required.Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with South Carolina criminal law and criminal justice system is preferred. Experience with crime-scene processing, evidence collection, and forensic applications in the field is preferred.
