Global Supply Manager (GSM), Optics

We are seeking a Display technology & Optics (D&O) Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead Optics Strategic Partnerships and Sourcing across OMI and enabling technologies (e.g., Film, Lens, and critical supply-chain partnerships). This role owns the end-to-end strategy for supplier engagement and commercial outcomes, translating long-range compute and product needs into sourcing, contracting, and partnership roadmaps that ensure capacity, cost, technology access, resiliency, and speed.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Optical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related field), Supply Chain Management, or Business8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or procurement, preferably in consumer electronics, optics, or display technologiesDemonstrated track record of complex commercial negotiations in delivering significant cost savingsExperience managing optical or display component suppliers, with understanding of film, coating, or precision optics manufacturingAnalytical skills with proficiency in should-cost modeling, TCO analysis, and data-driven decision makingProven ability to build and manage relationships across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed organizationExperience with supplier qualification processes, quality systems (ISO, IATF), and production ramp-up managementPreferred QualificationsExperience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy review)Experience with one or more: Film (L/D film), LCD/OLED display, yield/capacity ramp planningPrior experience operating in a hyperscale or large platform environment with complex stakeholder setsUnderstanding of supply chain risk management in semiconductors (multi-tier, geopolitical, and allocation) environmentsDemonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologiesResponsibilitiesAbout the RoleMeta's Reality Labs is at the forefront of building the next computing platform through augmented and virtual reality. We are seeking an experienced Global Supply Manager (GSM) to lead sourcing and supply chain strategy for optical film components - including D-film (Diffuser Film) and L-film (Lens Film) - used in AR/VR display and optics modulesThis role requires a deep technical understanding of optical film technologies, strong commercial acumen in cost and supply negotiation, and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class optics at scaleResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Supply ManagementOur end-to-end sourcing strategy for optical film components (D-film, L-film, and related optical films) across the AR/VR product portfolioDevelop and execute multi-year commodity strategies, including supplier selection, qualification, and lifecycle managementDrive competitive cost structures through strategic negotiations, should-cost modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysisEstablish and manage long-term supply agreements (LTAs) and contracts that balance cost, quality, capacity, and riskBuild and maintain a resilient supply base with dual/multi-source strategies to mitigate single-point-of-failure risksCost and Supply NegotiationLead commercial negotiations with optical film suppliers to achieve aggressive cost targets aligned with product cost goalsDevelop detailed should-cost models for D-film, L-film, and emerging optical film technologies to support fact-based negotiationDrive year-over-year cost reduction programs through design-for-cost collaboration, process optimization, and volume leverageNegotiate capacity commitments, lead time improvements, and flexible supply arrangements to support dynamic demandManage NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) costs and tooling investments for new film development and qualificationTechnical Depth in OpticsDevelop deep domain expertise in optical film technologies, including but not limited to:D-film (Diffuser Film): Understanding of diffusion properties, haze control, light uniformity, and interaction with backlight/display modulesL-film (Lens Film): Knowledge of micro-lens array structures, light collimation/redirection, optical efficiency, and integration with waveguide and pancake lens architecturesStay current on optical film industry trends, emerging materials, advanced coating technologies, and next-generation manufacturing processesPartner with optics engineering teams to translate technical requirements into supplier specifications and qualification criteriaEvaluate supplier technical capabilities, including precision coating, film lamination, micro-replication, and roll-to-roll manufacturingSupport new technology introduction (NTI) by assessing supplier readiness and driving development timelinesCross-Functional (XFN) collaborationServe as the primary supply chain interface between optics engineering, product design, quality, operations, and finance teamsPartner closely with Optics Engineering to align sourcing decisions with optical performance requirements and design roadmapsCollaborate with Product Design / Mechanical Engineering on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-supply-chain (DFSC) initiativesWork with Quality Engineering to establish incoming quality standards, SPC (Statistical Process Control) frameworks, and supplier quality improvement programsCoordinate with Operations / NPI (New Product Introduction) teams to ensure a seamless ramp readiness and production continuityEngage with Finance / FP&A on cost forecasting, budget management, and cost variance analysisAlign with Program Management on milestone tracking, risk escalation, and executive reportingSupport Sustainability / Responsible Sourcing initiatives across the optical film supply chain baseRisk Management & Business ContinuityProactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, capacity, quality, and single-source risksDevelop and maintain business continuity plans (BCPs) for critical optical film componentsMonitor suppliers' financial health and operational stability through regular business reviews and auditsDrive supplier diversification and regional strategy to reduce concentration riskAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
