RAP advances recovery through advocacy, peer support, and community-based services that empower individuals and strengthen communities.RAP is intentionally focused on serving Black and Brown communities in Genesee County, as well as individuals who are formerly incarcerated or currently on probation. Changing Systems.OverviewThe Lead Recovery Coach serves as a primary point of connection for participants, providing peer-based recovery support while leading outreach and community engagement efforts.This role integrates direct coaching, community outreach, and digital engagement to expand access to recovery support, build trust within the community, and increase awareness of the Organization’s services.The Lead Recovery Coach plays a critical role in bridging individuals to recovery pathways while amplifying the Organization’s presence both in the community and online.ResponsibilitiesProvide one-on-one and group recovery coaching grounded in lived experienceSupport participants in identifying goals, building recovery capital, and navigating systemsFacilitate recovery-oriented groups, workshops, or circlesMaintain appropriate documentation of participant engagement and progressModel healthy boundaries, accountability, and recovery-centered valuesConduct outreach in the community, including:o Community eventso Partner organizationso Treatment and recovery settingsBuild relationships with local stakeholders and referral partnersRepresent the Organization in a professional and recovery-centered mannerIdentify gaps in services and opportunities for expanded impactSupport and contribute to the Organization’s social media presenceCreate and share content that:Promotes services and eventsHighlights recovery stories (with consent)Increases community awareness and engagementEngage with online audiences in a professional, supportive, and authentic wayCollaborate on campaigns to expand reach and visibilityAssist with implementation of recovery programs and servicesSupport participant onboarding and engagementCoordinate with team members to ensure continuity of care and supportTrack outreach efforts, participant engagement, and outcomesAssist in collecting data aligned with program goals (e.g., recovery capital, attendance)Provide input for program improvement and reportingThe Lead Recovery Coach:Serves as a frontline representative of the OrganizationHas autonomy in building relationships and engaging participants within established guidelinesWorks under the supervision of the Executive Director (or designated supervisor)Collaborates with the Founder & Director of Strategy & Innovation on program feedback and community insightsQualificationsRequiredLived experience in recovery (strongly preferred or required depending on program)Experience in peer support, coaching, or related rolesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsComfort with community engagement and public-facing workCertified Recovery CoachExperience with outreach, community organizing, or engagement workFamiliarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for professional useExperience in behavioral health, recovery services, or nonprofit settingsCore CompetenciesRelationship-building and trust developmentCommunication and storytellingCommunity engagementAccountability and follow-throughTrauma-informed and recovery-centered practiceAdaptability and initiativeWork Environment & ExpectationsThis role operates within a recovery-centered, community-based environment that values:Authentic connection and lived experienceFlexibility and responsiveness to community needsVisibility and engagement (in-person and online)Accountability with compassionWork may include:Evenings and weekendsCommunity-based and field workActive social media engagementJoin us as a Recovery Coach and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming lives through hope, support, and resilience.
