performs general plumbing and replaces malfunctioning pumpsRepairs and maintains water softener systems, cranes, boiler feed pumps, centrifuges, air dryers, re-aeration tanks and pneumatic controlsRepairs bar screens and conveyors and replaces couplingsAssists Electrical/Mechanical Section Manager in the repair of transformers, high voltage power supplies, and other equipmentDrives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water businessOther FunctionsPerforms other related duties as requiredWork Environment And Physical DemandsMust be able to work in inclement weather with fluctuating temperatures, climbing ladders, scaffolding, descending undergroundExposure to the hazards of working in confined places and to high voltage electrical shockRequired Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesThorough knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical/mechanical trade and theoryThorough knowledge of electrical mechanical construction and maintenance, including installation and/or modification of all sizes of electrical conduit, cables, wires, switches, automatic starting equipment, etc.Some knowledge of electronic repair practices and methodsSkill in the use of tools and adjusting defects in electrical and mechanical systems and equipmentAbility to work from drawings, schematics and specificationsAbility to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructionsKnowledge of the applicable occupational hazards and safety precautionsAbility to work in inclement weather and fluctuating temperatures, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and descending underground, as well as exposure to the hazards of working in confined spaces with high voltage electricityMinimum Education, Experience RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent1+ years experience as an industrial electricianSubstation experience that includes repair and servicing equipment such as oil circuit breakers, transformers, roll-out breakers, and switchgear controls (protective relays)Experience in reading electrical one-line drawings, diagrams of high voltage substations and switchgear, interconnecting diagrams, and equipment location drawings of the same equipmentAdditional RequirementsPossession of a valid driver's license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain a WSSC Water driver's permit within 90 days of hire or transfer dateEmployees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel;
