TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.Position DescriptionDirects and coordinates infection control program in the School of Medicine clinics. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Major/Essential FunctionsMonitors APIC, OSHA, & Ector County Public Health Epidemiology websites for updates on employee health and infection control practices. Communicates education to Senior Director and managers as neededPerforms, coordinates and facilitates systems audits for campus administration, including clinical, operational, and academic functions with policy/procedure review and /or development to address deficiencies and improve quality, efficiency for delivery of services/processesSupports and reviews Infectious Disease Exposure Policy in conjunction with the Section Manager and Director and the Infection Control Committee ChairmanDaily tracking of HAI's, reportable conditions, exposures, communicable diseases, and LARC complianceProvides Infection Prevention education and develops infection prevention competencies. Compiles Infection Prevention and Occupational Health compliance reports. Maintains accurate data for internal reporting and public reportingAssists clinical staff and providers in all departments in the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives for Infection prevention. Communicates professionally andeffectively any performance initiatives to the Section ManagerPreparation of agenda items and presentation to the Performance Improvement /Risk Management and Infection Control Committee meetingsFunctions in the capacity of the Employee Health Nurse role. Coordinating vaccines, immunizations, lab titers, Blood Borne pathogen Exposures Protocol per TTUHSC policyManage annual Tuberculin skin test requirements for faculty, staff, residents and students. Place and interpret TSTEvaluate new hire health information for completeness. Advise on necessary follow-up. Maintain system for notification of vaccination, etcManage TTUHSC immunization program. Provide immunizations as requiredOccasional Duties Fill in as needed for Risk ManagerAssists in investigation of employment related complaints from TTUHSC personnel, as well as complaints received from hospital and service relationshipsAssists in investigation of accidents and injuries to staff/patients/visitorsReview as needed instances of potential risks involving patient careRequired QualificationsGraduated from an approved accredited nursing program. Current RN license in the State of Texas or the ability to transfer your license to Texas.
