Job Description and DutiesIn accordance with CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.Under general direction provided by the Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel, the Attorney Supervisor supervises Attorney IVs, Attorney IIIs and Attorneys in the Legal Office, performs administrative duties, and serves as a member of the Legal Office's senior management team.This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen the legal work of the Department of Conservation. The Attorney Supervisor will partner closely with one of two Assistant Chief Counsels to plan, direct, and elevate the work of a team of attorneys who handle some of the Department's most pressing and complex legal challenges. As a trusted legal advisor and leader, the Attorney Supervisor will:Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of attorneys handling matters of varying complexity.Step in for the Assistant Chief Counsel as needed, ensuring seamless leadership continuity.Collaborate with legal and executive management to develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategies that support the Department's mission.Oversee and review the work of subordinate attorneys, ensuring the highest standards of legal analysis and advocacy.Personally handle or guide the most sensitive, novel, and high-impact cases.Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary by 4.62% [BU2] in exchange for leave credits. The salary range(s) included on this job advertisement do not reflect this reduction in pay. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue PLP 2025 hours on the first day of each pay period in accordance with their applicable Bargaining Unit contract.You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.Working ConditionsThis position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in-person in Sacramento at least two days per week at 715 P Street, MS 1906, Sacramento, CA 95814 .
