Project Engineer

Job Description Summary:We are representing a mechanical contractor hiring a Project Engineer to support HVAC construction projects in CA. This position assists the Project Manager in all phases of mechanical project execution, including budgeting, scheduling, submittals, and vendor coordination. Ideal for candidates with 3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical systems, this role offers growth into future leadership while managing technical details across multiple project phases.Key Responsibilities:Assist the Project Manager in overseeing mechanical/HVAC scopes from preconstruction through closeoutManage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and purchase ordersCommunicate with clients, subcontractors, and field teams regarding project statusMaintain project budgets, manpower logs, and construction schedulesSupport issue resolution and identify corrective actions as neededTrack and verify submittals, equipment specifications, and material deliveriesContribute to project planning, vendor sourcing, and quality assurance activitiesParticipate in meetings and manage internal documentation using software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and BluebeamQualifications:3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in HVAC, mechanical, or MEP-related constructionBachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering preferredProficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Primavera (P6), Procore, and Viewpoint VistaExcellent communication, scheduling, and organizational skillsStrong understanding of HVAC systems, job costing, and construction sequencingAbility to manage multiple assignments in different stages of constructionComfortable collaborating with union field personnel, clients, and internal teamsCompensation + Benefits:Competitive salary based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid holidays and PTOLong-term growth opportunities within a stable pipeline of commercial and industrial HVAC projects
