Job Title: Lead Data ScientistLocation: Bethesda, MD (Onsite)Duration: Contract to Hire OR FTEPay Range: $50 to $75/hr and conversation salary would be around $150K to $170K/annumJob Description:We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join a fast-growing, high-impact data science team focused on consumer analytics and predictive modeling. This role is centered on translating complex business problems into scalable machine learning solutions that directly influence strategic decision-making.The ideal candidate will operate across the full machine learning lifecycle—from problem framing and model development to deployment and ongoing performance monitoring—while working closely with cross-functional stakeholders.This is a business-driven, applied data science role, emphasizing critical thinking, ownership, and measurable outcomes over purely research-based or tool-specific expertise.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end development of machine learning solutions, from problem definition to production deploymentTranslate ambiguous business challenges into structured analytical approaches and scalable modelsDesign, train, and optimize models using predictive analytics and statistical techniquesEvaluate model performance using robust metrics, validation frameworks, and error analysisDeploy models into production environments and ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainabilityMonitor model performance, detect drift, and implement continuous improvement processesCollaborate with business stakeholders to translate insights into actionable strategiesMentor junior team members and provide guidance on technical trade-offs and solution designCommunicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field (Master’s preferred)5–8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or predictive analyticsStrong hands-on expertise in Python and SQL, with experience writing production-quality codeProven experience in building, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models in production environmentsExperience working in cloud-based ecosystems (preferably GCP)Strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data analysisExperience with consumer analytics, e-commerce, or large-scale data environments is preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment with evolving prioritiesIdeal Candidate ProfileA problem-solver first, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarityStrong focus on business impact rather than purely technical experimentationExperience delivering practical, scalable ML solutions tied to measurable outcomesComfortable operating under tight timelines and high expectationsEffective communicator who can influence stakeholders and drive decisionsBrings a balanced approach to data science—technical depth combined with business acumenNot solely focused on GenAI, LLMs, or research-heavy work, but rather applied, outcome-driven data scienceDexian is a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions with over 12,000 employees and 70 locations worldwide.
