The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in our electronics manufacturing operations, ensuring seamless coordination of purchasing, inventory, demand planning, and operational activities. This position is integral to achieving our strategic objectives by maintaining and enhancing program management and financial targets. The Buyer/Planner II will drive improvements in cost and schedule performance, procurement processes, and supplier communications by utilizing industry best practices and advanced technologies and fostering cross-functional collaborations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demand Planning:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive forecasts to meet production and program needs.
Analyze demand trends and adjust plans to optimize inventory and production schedules.
Leverage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to ensure accurate planning and forecasting.
Supply/Purchase Order Management:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of purchase orders, from creation to closure.
Expedite orders, resolve discrepancies, implement changes, and monitor supplier performance.
Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements.
Focus on meeting program schedules by ensuring timely procurement and materials delivery.
Supplier Management:
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure a consistent supply chain, optimal pricing, and high performance.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts to secure the best terms and conditions.
Ensure company and supplier compliance with ISO9001/AS9100D quality requirements.
Inventory Management:
Collaborate with internal teams and utilize advanced tools and technology to maintain inventory levels in alignment with organizational targets.
Implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.
Monitor inventory to ensure alignment with program schedules and deadlines.
Collaboration:
Foster collaborative, solid relationships with internal and external teams.
Communicate effectively through written, verbal, and meeting formats, ensuring proactive sharing of information and metrics.
Work closely with program managers to ensure alignment with program schedules and deliverables.
Data Analysis, Reporting, & Data Management:
Develop and maintain system data, providing regular reports on KPIs and metrics.
Analyze data to understand drivers of change and performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Operations, or Supply Chain Management, with at least two years of purchasing experience, or 6+ years of professional experience with at least two years of purchasing experience.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, and ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Must have planning experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
Experience with operational and financial metrics, including year-over-year performance, inventory turnover, and days/weeks of supply.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Preferred experience in the electronics manufacturing industry, especially in government contracting.
Familiarity with task management systems (e.g., monday.com, Jira) is a plus.
ASCM/APICS CPIM or CSCP certifications preferred.
ISM CPSM or APSM certifications preferred.
Strong focus on meeting program schedules and deadlines.
