Field Application Engineer

Role OverviewThe Field Applications Engineer (FAE) serves as the primary technical interface between ArlonEMD and its customers. This role blends deep PCB/CCL materials expertise with customer-facing communication skills to drive adoption, resolve technical challenges, and accelerate growth across defense, aerospace, and PCB board shop accounts.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Technical SupportAct as the primary pre- and post-sales technical resource for assigned accountsProvide on-site and remote troubleshooting support to resolve complex integration issuesDeliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations tailored to customer applicationsApplication & Integration SupportPartner with customers to integrate ArlonEMD materials into their PCB/CCL manufacturing processesCollaborate with internal engineering teams to develop custom solutions based on field feedbackValidate that products meet customer specifications and performance expectationsProduct & Market ExpertiseDevelop deep knowledge of ArlonEMD's laminate product portfolio and their application fit across industriesMonitor competitor offerings and industry trends to inform product positioning and roadmap inputRelay structured customer feedback to R&D and Product Management to guide future enhancementsCross-Functional CollaborationAlign with sales teams to identify new business opportunities and support pipeline developmentCoordinate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer escalationsSupport strategic initiatives that position ArlonEMD as a preferred technical partnerDocumentation & TrainingCreate and maintain technical documentation including application notes, user guides, and FAQsDevelop and deliver training programs for both customer teams and internal stakeholdersQualificationsRequiredAny STEM/Technical Degree including but not limited (Engineering, Math, Computer Science)1-5+ years of PCB experience, including 1+ years in a technical support, FAE, or applications engineering roleHands-on experience with PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes, stackup design, and laminate materialsProven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a customer-facing environmentStrong communication and presentation skills and able to translate technical concepts for varied audiencesAbility to travel up to 50% to customer sitesValid driver's license and ability to rent a vehicle as neededPreferredExperience conducting failure analysis on circuit boards and with lab instrumentationFamiliarity with PCB/CCL design rules, including stackup, pattern, and impedance requirementsWhat We're Looking ForCustomer-first mindset with a strong sense of urgency and follow-throughIndependent self-starter who thrives managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCollaborative team player who communicates proactively across departmentsContinuous improvement orientation — identifies root causes and drives lasting solutionsCompensation & BenefitsCompensationBase Salary: $105,000 – $145,000Annual BonusBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageLife insurance401(k)
