Job DescriptionTitle : BuyerLocation : North Hollywood, CA 91605Contract : 07 MonthsTime : 1st ShiftPosition Summary:The Buyer uses expertise in performing a variety of purchasing activities including pricing, negotiating terms, volume discounts, long-term contracts and delivery of goods\services with suppliers. Applies government laws and regulations while conducting procurement activities and ensures alignment with management objectives.Responsibilities:Review MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain schedule and visibility, identify and resolve issues until shipment.Generate work orders and issue purchase orders based on MRP (SAP) messages. Negotiate price and deliveries that are consistent with schedule needs.Process changes, reschedules and outside processing that are required to accomplish the production schedule goals.Ensure customer satisfaction by achieving on time deliveries of quality product. Follow through special requests and expedites. Identify potential late deliveries and plan recovery. Prioritize material handling from receipt to shipment based on schedule requirements and department workload.Requirements:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in the production control field, including material/inventory management in a defense or aerospace environment.Requires excellent planning, organizational and motivational skills.Knowledge of MRP (SAP) system is a mustGeneral knowledge of machine shop practices and processing standards helpful.Knowledge of military spares standards helpful.Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Computerized MRP systemRequires strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.Have the ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks on a timely basis.Have the ability to maintain flexibility and be adaptable to the ever-changing needs of the company.Environmental & Physical RequirementsOffice / Sedentary Requirements:Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.
