HOURS PER WEEK:25 - 30* (Greater in the summer)JOB SUMMARY:
The Aquatics Field Resource person will assist with making documented pool visits to the summer Milwaukee Recreation Aquatics Program. In a varied maximum 30-hour work week, the Field Resource will stock pools with 1st Aid supplies, safety check rescue equipment, refill instructional paperwork, make observations of part-time staff, and fulfill other responsibilities assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in close collaboration with the Aquatics Supervisors.
Serve as liaison between City-Wide Aquatics office and Community Center staff through frequent site visits.
Ability to communicate professionally with supervisory staff and part-time co-workers.
Assign reasonable expectations for part-time aquatic staff during site visits.
Share patron concerns and needs with supervisor or building staff when necessary.
Maintain a professional appearance by always being in uniform and keeping the facility clean and organized.
Make observations of part-time staff members in need of correction and communicate findings to the Aquatics Office.
Be flexible and able to visit multiple pools throughout the city.
Be an authority figure at your facility and work to create a safe and fun environment for others.
Be prepared to teach both Lifeguarding and CPR courses throughout the year.
Accurately complete paperwork related to the job in a timely fashion.
Maintain current certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor & others as listed below.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
Hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED and First-Aid certification.
Preferred American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
Experience with coaching swim or aquatic fitness is a plus.
Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position
Access to reliable transportationPREFERRED EXPERIENCE
3-5 years working in and around pools preferred.
Demonstrated professional leadership ability, maturity and supervisory responsibility.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Demonstrate leadership ability and positive public relations skills in addressing potential issues with customers, employees, inspectors, and building staff.
Observe and enforce state-regulated pool code compliance of part-time Lifeguard and Swim Instructional staff in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes ATCP #76.
Document site visits and effectively communicate appropriate feedback to part-time employees and full-time supervisory staff.
Effectively train lifeguard staff in both American Red Cross Lifeguard Training classes and during in-service sessions.
Exhibit a passion for water safety and the ability to positively market Milwaukee Recreation Aquatic programming.
Complete required paperwork for the Red Cross, State of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Recreation Aquatics Office.
