Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYSr Automation EngineerJOB DESCRIPTIONJob DescriptionMTT (Manufacturing Technology & Transfer) works as an integral part of our Consumables Development and Manufacturing teams and is tasked with developing and deploying consumables manufacturing processes within our production environments.The Sr. Automation Engineer - Liquid Handling serves an important role in MTT to support the development of Liquid Handling equipment and processes. This position requires deep expertise in programming liquid handlers, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels. The position will evaluate and deploy new liquid handling technology and processes through proof-of-concept testing, feasibility evaluation, systems engineering controls, verification, characterization, and validation of solutions in a regulated GMP environment.Responsibilities:Own implementation of liquid handling automation systems in regulated lab and manufacturing settingsDevelop complex automation scripts and recovery methods for new assays/workflows, including error handling, custom liquid classes, water/simulation runs, and data analysisApply problem-solving skills to work through technical challenges and overcome roadblocks in system deploymentValidate automated applications to ensure accuracy, precision, and repeatability for automated workflowsDrive process development and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and end customer experienceProvide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for protocols and instrumentationDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation including training materials and internal process guidesMaintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues, serving as a trusted technical advisorDeliver basic and advanced software and hardware training to internal customersInfluences project and program level decisions at critical interfaces to other disciplinesStay current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory expectations to guide long-term automation strategyListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.Requirements:Expertise in liquid handling systems including but not limited to Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman, Agilent, Lynx etc. and integration with associated peripheral devices- plate readers, sealers, shakers, scanners etc.Deep knowledge of automated systems programming, including but not limited to method development, error recovery logic, liquid class optimization, method validation& testing via simulation/trace files, integration with LIMS/MESBasic proficiency with object-oriented programming languages with an emphasis on C# and PythonStrong troubleshooting skills for integrated automation systems, with a track record of resolving critical production issuesSolid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and validation procedures?Able to plan activities of allocated project scope with guidance and prioritization of daily activities/assignments to supporting team members while maintaining project schedule.Able to manage vendors and engineering contractors on a technical level for component deliveryStrong oral and written communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to a cross functional audienceOperates independently, sets priorities, and drives projects to completion with minimal oversightAll listed requirements are deemed essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional responsibilities.Experience/Education:Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Lifesciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or Systems Engineering; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.Pay Rate Range: $50-64/hr depending on experienceEqual Opportunity Employer: We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
