The Legal Assistant, Senior assists attorneys by performing legal work requiring comprehensive knowledge of legal procedures, methods, and terminology; trains, assigns and monitors the work of others and/or provides guidance to less experienced co-workers by performing the following duties.Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/TasksProvides on-the-job training to less experienced workersEnsures work is performed in a timely manner and in compliance with established policies and guidelinesResponds to employee’s questions regarding unusual, complex, or technical work-related mattersAssists attorneys with management of complex case files and pleadingsDrafts and/or dictates legal briefs, pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, and other legal documentsConducts research including statutes, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinionsAttends depositions and hearings and reviews transcripts, as requiredReviews files, mail and complex legal documents to gather information and locate missing or incomplete recordsContacts clients, debtors, attorneys and courts for resolution of outstanding issues, further instructions, status updates, and additional information and documentationNegotiates settlements and sale or return of assets/collateral for attorney/client approvalOversees the preparation and assembly of evidence exhibits and other materials used in legal proceedingsMonitors client billings and prepares billing statementsCoordinates the service of subpoenas, notice of depositions, and other legal documents to witnesses and parties to actionForwards accounts to out-of-town counsel and serves as liaison between client and attorneyArranges for payment of court costs, local counsel fees, publications costs, etc.Performs data entry to update notes on accountMay take and process debtor paymentsMaintains current knowledge of general legal procedures, deadlines and procedures for appropriate documents, office equipment, and software in general use in the legal communityComplete all required training applicable to assigned positionAdditional duties as requested or requiredQualificationsAssociate's Degree and/or Paralegal certificate required4 years legal experience with comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, legal/court procedures, and legal terminologyDemonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsProfessional demeanor with clients and co-workersExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products with the ability to type 45 words per minuteCompensation And BenefitsThe expected compensation is $21.70 hr. - $26.79 hr. depending upon experiencePaid Time Off (PTO) - 16 days annually + 9 Company paid holidaysCompetitive benefits - Medical, Rx, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and Life and Disability Insurance.
