Deployment Engineer
About the RoleThe Infrastructure Deployment Engineer (IDE) is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in fiber optics, structured cabling, and data center physical infrastructure. You will own the full lifecycle of installation projects, coordinating LVC schedules, performing QA/QC on contractor work, and ensuring all installations meet design standards, safety codes, and labeling policies.*Please note, this is a remote with travel role, applicants can be from anywhere in the States.Key Responsibilities1. Project Oversight & Contractor ManagementAct as the primary on-site technical contact for LVCs and internal teamsManage deployment schedules, track milestones, and report progressCoordinate site access, materials, and staging with facility operationsSupport remote engineering teams as on-site “remote hands”2. QA/QC & Installation ValidationConduct multi-stage QA inspections across racks, servers, cabling, and labelingEnsure all installs align with BoM, design specs, and grounding standardsOversee fiber testing (OTDR, OLTS, insertion/return loss) for SM/MM fiberValidate copper cabling (Cat6a/Cat8) and ensure compliance across all systemsManage vendor performance and SLAs3. SME & DocumentationAct as SME for fiber and structured cabling best practices (BICSI)Review and validate designs, rack layouts, and fiber schematicsProduce test reports, as-builts, and RCA documentationSupport training, closeout, and handover to operationsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree (Engineering, IT, or related)5+ years in data center or mission-critical deploymentStrong hands-on experience with fiber systems (OTDR, VFL, power meter)Experience with racking, stacking, and cabling infrastructureAbility to interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD/Visio)Comfortable with ~40% travelPreferredBICSI RCDD or vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper)Hyperscale data center experienceFamiliarity with ITIL frameworksSalary & BenefitsCompetitive salary + equity, healthcare, pension, and generous PTO
