Occupational Therapy Assistant

The Occupational Therapist Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.Essential FunctionsResponsible for the effective and efficient delivery of occupational services; adherence to an established plan of care, department, and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.Works with other members of the OT team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.Instruct patients, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.Implements a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including the application of therapeutic techniquesOrganizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.Maintain targeted caseload hours of 26 therapy per week Required Education, Experience And CredentialsGraduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) therapy programCurrent IL State LicensureCPR Certification required within 90 days of hire Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative spirit and willingness to work as a teamPassion for working with neurodiverse pediatric populationCreative mindset for making sessions enjoyable for pediatric clients Competence with a variety of computer applicationsPersonal AttributesInterpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative spirit and willingness to work as a teamCreative mindset for making therapy funProcess oriented with strong attention to detailAccountability Problem SolvingInitiative Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to receive training in, and implement, de-escalation skills for clientsAbility to lift or carry 30 lbs unassisted Ability to work in a variety of active positions, including on the floor during played-based therapyTravel RequirementsSome travel within assigned region for training, meetings and supporting client coverage needs.
