Our audience is highly engaged, socially native, and passionate about true crime—and we meet them where they are with smart, responsible, and binge-worthy content.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Managing Editor to oversee the daily editorial strategy and content creation for Criminally Obsessed, with a strong social-first mindset. This mid-level role is ideal for an editorial lead who is deeply immersed in true crime, understands what performs on social platforms, and is excited to be hands-on in shaping and producing content.The Managing Editor will guide stories from ideation through execution with particular attention to how content is packaged, presented, and optimized for social audiences.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily editorial strategy for Criminally Obsessed, with a strong emphasis on social-first storytellingAssign, supervise, and review production of breaking news post, story-driven carousels, and in-depth short and midform video contentDevelop and refine story ideas with social performance in mind, from headline and hook to visuals and pacingEnsure content is optimized for all major social platforms, with a particular focus on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.Manage editorial calendars, deadlines, and production workflowsMaintain consistency in brand voice, tone, and visual identity across platformsApply best practices for social publishing, including thumbnails, captions, metadata, and trendsMonitor performance metrics and audience engagement to inform editorial decisionsUphold editorial standards, accuracy, and ethical considerations in true crime storytellingRequired QualificationsStrong passion for and knowledge of true crime content7+ years experience writing and producing digital editorial contentHands-on experience producing or overseeing asset creationDemonstrated understanding of social media best practices across platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube ShortsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinesSolid understanding of creative development and storytelling across formatsKeen eye for visual design and presentationStrong editorial judgment and attention to detailPreferred QualificationsExperience working at a digital media, entertainment, or social-first brandFamiliarity with social analytics and audience insightsExperience collaborating with or managing freelance or staff contributorsComfort working in a fast-paced, trend-driven environmentWhy Join Criminally ObsessedPlay a key role in shaping the editorial voice of a popular true crime brandCreate content for a highly engaged, social-native audienceWork cross-functionally with writers, producers, designers, and editorsOpportunity to grow editorial leadership skills in a multi-platform environmentPlease note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, including employer sponsorship for an H-1B visa, OPT-STEM employment, etc.Sinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace. Let’s talk.The base salary compensation range for this role is $97,500 to $130,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary quarterly bonus, which would be awarded based on individual and company performance. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
