Busser/Food Runner

UTILITY JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Utility is responsible for: (1) helping to ensure guests receive excellent guest service by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables quickly and accurately, (2) ensuring all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tables, (3) maintaining the cleanliness of the expo line, (4) organizing the order tickets and communicating effectively with the back-of-the-house ("BOH") team to ensure that food orders are prepared properly and efficiently, (5) cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, (6) ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates and glasses, (7) supporting servers' table service as directed by the servers and MOD, and (8) maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and server stations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shiftHave strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating mannerExhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conductProvide exemplary guest service on a consistent basisComplete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organizationPerform all assigned side-work quickly and efficientlyProperly set up and break down stations before and after operating hoursExpediter/Food Runner ResponsibilitiesEnsure all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tablesEnsure guests have everything they need on the table including proper silverware, napkins and share plates when delivering foodWork with servers and BOH to quickly correct any guest concerns regarding food orders, quality, and presentationKeep expo station clean, organized and well stockedEnsure all utensils are polished and well stockedAssist all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of platesCommunicate food orders to BOH employees, paying attention to priority tickets, allergies, and special requestsBusser ResponsibilitiesClean and reset tables after guests leave the restaurantRemove dirty utensils and replenish, as neededEnsure the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates, and glasswareKeep service stations cleanAssist servers with food delivery and other table service duties as directed by the servers and MODTake out trashBring bus tubs back to the kitchen when they are fullMove tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate guests as neededSPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITYKnowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS systemAbility to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkersProficient verbal communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environmentStrong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfactionMust have strong knowledge of food menusMust have the ability to carry multiple plates at one time sometimes using a large tray and tray jackKnowledge of proper food handling requirementsKnowledge of bar and kitchen itemsBasic mathematical skillsKnowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venueMust have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.QUALIFICATION STANDARDSEducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent optionalExperienceMinimum of one year's experience in a fast-paced restaurant/barAgeMust be at least 18 years old.Licenses or CertificatesFood Handlers CardABC Service CertificationCPR certification and/or First Aid training preferredGROOMINGAll employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Company's grooming standards.
