Project Engineer
Overview
As a Project Engineer, you assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in planning, tracking, and controlling construction activities to deliver projects on time and within scope. You will work on complex, high-profile developments across California, collaborating with design professionals, subcontractors, and owners. You drive documentation, field coordination, and issue resolution to keep projects moving and aligned with contract documents. This role provides hands-on exposure to value engineering and change management in a dynamic, quality-focused construction environment.
ResponsibilitiesAttend and document weekly meetings with precise minutesInspect the construction site daily and coordinate with subcontractors for deliveriesReview designs, drawings, submittals, and shop drawings for complianceResearch drawing interpretations, resolve conflicts, and initiate RFIs as neededProcess RFIs and verify responses for completeness and follow-upUnderstand and manage potential change orders (PCO) and submission to OwnerMaintain distribution of all submittals, RFIs, close-out documents, punch lists, and related recordsCoordinate all submittals between subcontractors and stakeholdersPrepare field design change requisitions and as-built drawings as requiredGenerate status reports, punch lists, and material calculations for supervisionParticipate in job walks and meetings to document findings and updatesOperate Procore or similar construction software; perform quantity takeoffsEstablish submittal/close-out logs and monitor documentation workflowDemonstrate dependability, thoroughness, and collaboration in day-to-day tasksSupport design viability reviews and value engineering activitiesContribute to project meetings with contractors, clients, and A/E representativesMaintain overall communication and documentation quality across the team
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related fieldMinimum one year of field experienceStrong Excel skills and MS Office proficiencyWorking knowledge of Procore or similar construction softwareBlueprint reading and basic scheduling/estimating softwarePrimavera P6 knowledge is desirableExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsDependable, diligent, and thoroughAbility to work independently with initiative and learn quicklyExcel / MS ExcelProcore or similar construction softwareBlueprint reading
