Assistant Director of Nursing
The Assistant Director of Nursing is accountable for the overall supervision and training of the nurses and for the coordination of the AMAP process and for providing education and training in medically related subjects. The ADON will ensure that OSHA and OPWDD regulations are followed in matters involving employee health at all IGHL sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
E- Connotes Essential Functions
E-1 Provides supervision and training to assigned program nurses.
E-2 Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates nursing staff.
E-3 Oversees and develops OSHA training annually to comply with regulations.
E-4 Follows-up with exposure incidents and provide confidential counseling to employee as per OSHA protocol. Maintain confidential tracking records of all exposure incidents.
E-5 Completes AMAP recertification for assigned programs.
E-6 Provides counseling and discipline to assigned nursing and AMAP staff.
E-7 Develops and maintains nursing staff patterns that provide a safe environment and meets the medical/nursing needs of the consumers.
E-8 Establishes policies and procedures using regulations and good nursing practice.
E-9 Promotes ongoing assessments and early interventions of consumers by residential nurse.
E-10 Conducts regular visits to assigned programs and follow-up on all medical care.
E-11 Submits weekly schedule and program status report to assigned Director.
E-12 Ensures that the medical environment is maintained per IGHL and Dept. of Health guidelines.
E-13 Develops ongoing in-services for the nursing and AMAP staff.
E-14 Ensures that annual assessments occur on a timely basis by following up with the assigned nurses.
E-15 Provides coverage when nurses and ADON’s are off or positions are vacant. Approves nurses time-off requests and notifies site management of coverage plan.
E-16 Responds to and provides 24 hour on-call emergency coverage.
17- Oversees and ensures that ITT preparation (if appropriate) are thorough and timely.
18- Attends ITT meetings of consumers with significant medical concerns when necessary.
19- Completes annual evaluations for site nurses with program manager.
20- Ensures that medications are ordered, stored and dispensed per policy.
21- Enforces and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
22- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
A. Licensed NYS RN
B. Two years supervisory experience
C. Experience working with DD population
D. Valid NYS driver’s license
E. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48.27 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
