Senior DevOps Engineer, Platforms
We're redefining how robots are deployed. Our platform enables users to simulate, test, and optimize entire robotic systems in parallel. By removing the barriers that have kept advanced robotics out of reach for all but the largest players, we're ushering in a new era of manufacturing—one where mass reshoring is not only viable, but inevitable.About The RoleReporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, the DevOps Engineer will operate and evolve the infrastructure supporting our engineering organization and cloud-based products. This role spans both AWS cloud systems and on-premise infrastructure in our Boston office, with a strong focus on CI systems, developer productivity, reliability, and security. You will work closely with software engineers to ensure development, testing, and deployment systems are efficient, scalable, and secure. This is a hands-on role focused on improving engineering workflows rather than building product features, with significant interaction with C++-based build and packaging systems.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and improve hybrid infrastructure across AWS and on-prem environmentsMaintain and scale CI/CD systems (GitLab CI), including runner infrastructureImprove reliability and performance of build, test, and deployment pipelinesSupport and optimize build systems for multi-language environments, including C++Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, networking, storage, and build systemsManage virtualization environments and internal compute resourcesDevelop automation and tooling (primarily Python) to improve engineering workflowsSupport containerized environments using DockerCollaborate with engineering teams to remove friction in development and release processesImplement and maintain secure infrastructure practices (secrets, access control, logging)Support SOC 2 / ISO 27001 compliance effortsAssist in managing open source software usage and licensingEvaluate and support adoption of developer productivity tools, including AI-assisted toolingRequirementsRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or systems engineeringStrong experience with Linux-based systemsHands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and servicesExperience with CI/CD systems (GitLab CI preferred)Experience with Docker and containerized workflowsStrong scripting and automation skills (Python or similar)Experience supporting C++ build and packaging environments within CI/CD systems (e.g., CMake-based builds, dependency management, and artifact generation)Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure or build system issuesAbility to work collaboratively with software engineering teamsFamiliarity with secure infrastructure practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience operating hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem)Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox, VMware, etc.)Experience managing CI runners or large-scale build/test systemsExperience with C++ package management tools (e.g., Conan, vcpkg)Familiarity with artifact/package repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Cloudsmith, Packagecloud) and tradeoffs between themExperience with system-level packaging (e.g., Debian/apt, RPM)Experience with advanced build systems (e.g., Bazel)Experience supporting multi-language development environments (C++, C#, JavaScript)Familiarity with open source software management and licensingExperience working in SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar environmentsLocationBoston, MA (Hybrid, in-office required due to on-prem infrastructure)What Success Looks LikeCI pipelines are reliable, fast, and scalableInfrastructure operates predictably across cloud and on-prem environmentsC++ build and packaging workflows are efficient and reproducibleEngineers experience fewer infrastructure-related blockersDeveloper workflows improve through automation and toolingInfrastructure supports strong security and compliance practicesBenefitsCompetitive Healthcare CoverageUnlimited PTOCommuting Expenses CoveredTelecommunications Stipend401k MatchHSA Employer ContributionRealtime Robotics, Inc. located at 27 Wormwood St Ste 110, Boston, MA 02210 is an equal opportunity employer.
