Cloud EngineerJob Location: Springfield, VA Compensation: $170,000 - $180,000 Eligibility/Clearance: Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance and be willing to obtain a CI PolygraphJob Description:The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; provide customers technical support. The Cloud Engineer will be integrated with an agile environment participating with scrums and other meetings.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Work with A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systemsMaintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc)Produce detailed documentationMaintain System in AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDSAutomate and optimize service deploymentsDelivering a full-stack web application to production; identifying and resolving operational issues in sameActively participating in technical requirements-gathering process (i.e. meetings with customers)Executing design and implementation of application features, independently / unassisted, with minimal oversightRefactoring legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainabilityMentoring junior developersWriting and reading unit tests; understanding code-quality analysis conceptsWriting and debugging Javascript, Typescript, or closely-related languageDeveloping applications backed by a relational database; understanding RDB design conceptsSkills/Qualifications:Required:Strong knowledge of Amazon Web ServicesStrong Troubleshooting skillsExperience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or PerlFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologyFamiliarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, NexusExtensive Typescript or Javascript backgroundAngular frontend framework; UI/UX designMicroservice-based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIsSupporting a full-stack application in a PaaS environmentCI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLabCreating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with DockerDesigning/implementing container orchestration with KubernetesDesired:Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS/CLIExperience working with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Java)Experience with Go programming languageFamiliarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal developmentDatabase experience with a Postgres backendStrong communication skillsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
