Minnkota Power CooperativeApprentice ElectricianMinnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for an Apprentice Electrician located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, ND.The pay rate for this position begins at $35.81 per hour. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and any previous relevant experience.Closing date to submit applications is May 29, 2026.Job responsibilities include:Working under the direction of a heavy crew foreman, senior electrician or electricianAssembling, installing, and maintaining switch tower and substation steelInstalling and maintaining buss work, switch arresters, and associated insulation in both an energized and de-energized conditionWiring and troubleshooting relay and control panelsDoing commercial wiringReading substation metersInstalling and maintaining station battery bank, chargers, invertors, and convertors.Maintaining HVAC systems in a variety of shops, offices, and control houses.Installing, testing, and maintaining (including rebuilding) circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers and voltage regulatorsFilter and degas insulation oil and maintains equipment for sameTakes oil and gas samples and perform analysis on eachMaintains a variety of motors, generators, and power and hand toolsMaintains work area in a neat and orderly fashionMaintains record of activities as required by employer or regulatory authoritiesQualified applicants must be able to:Work under close supervision.Operate and work from a variety of utility lift devices such as: ladders, scaffolds, fork lifts and bucket trucksOperate a computerComply with all applicable safe work practices and rules set forth by the company, state and federal regulatory agenciesTravel overnight when requiredParticipate and successfully complete Minnkota Power's apprenticeship program which is recognized by the Federal Department of LaborEmployees in this role may work nights and weekends as necessary and some overnight travel from home base is required.The above description is not meant to be all-inclusive as it relates to duties or responsibilities, but contains the major tasks.Minimum Qualifications:Individual must have completed a two-year degree in electrical technology (or similar program) OR have equivalent experienceMust have, or be able to, obtain and maintain a Class A driver's license with all required endorsementsMust be able to read, write, and understand instruction manuals and blueprintsMust be able to work in all types of weather due to emergency responses in inclement weatherMust be able to undertake strenuous physical activity and meet the physical and mental requirements of the jobBenefitsMinnkota Power Cooperative supports employees through a strong total compensation package that includes a competitive pay and benefits package, along with career growth opportunities.
