As an Assembler, you fit and assemble metal components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos and sketches under moderate supervision.What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, depending on the incumbent is performing, you may be required to:Read and understand bill of materialsPosition parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or per work instructionsFit, align, adjust, fasten and/or plumb parts together to ordinary tolerancesUse tools such as wrenches, impact guns, utility knife, drift pins, sealant tape, glue, staple gun, nail gun, sheet grinder and any other required tools/equipment safely and effectivelyConfers with supervision, area lead, maintenance, or others to resolve assembly issuesProduce a completed unit capable of passing final inspectionCompletes tasks to support on-time shipments and other logistical needsOther tasks as assignedWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:Required Experience1+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environmentRead a tape measure and ruler and convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractionsPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesMeet all product quality requirementsAbility to read mechanical engineered drawingsAbility to use precision hand toolsAbility to keep a clean and safe work areaAbility to work extended shifts and overtimeForklift operation experience/certificationEducation & CertificationsHigh school diploma or GEDTravel & Working EnvironmentOnsiteThe employee will be required to stand and walk for at least 8 hours.Regularly be required to push/pull material with assistance of overhead craneClimb stairs, reach and bend regularlyOccasionally sit, grasp, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heightsOccasionally lift, hold and/or move up to 40 poundsPerform repetitive motionsManufacturing environment requires use of required Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye, and ear protection when in production locationsPotential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noiseHow We Live Our CultureOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
