Utilities Technician

Our client is one of the world's largest manufacturer of mozzarella and lactose as well as a global leader in whey protein production, they currently expanding the utilities team in Roswell, NM.Your background in operating and maintaining complex mechanical systems-such as ammonia refrigeration systems, air compressors, water pump rebuilds, rewiring, and industrial utilities-is directly aligned with the equipment and systems that keep our facility running. If you've served as a Utilities Technician, Machinist's Mate, Hull Tech, Electrician's Mate, HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist, Power Generation Specialist, or in similar military roles, you'll find this position familiar, rewarding, and mission-driven.As a Utility Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring reliable operation of essential facility systems by:Maintaining and operating steam generation, ammonia refrigeration, compressed air systems, water treatment systems, fire protection systems, and HVAC equipment.Applying troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues-much like working on shipboard, aircraft, or base-level utilities systems.Rebuilding, repairing, and rewiring pumps, compressors, and supporting equipment.Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, including PSM, NMDA, EPA, OSHA, NMED, SQF, and others.Reading and interpreting manuals, technical procedures, schematics, and SOPs.Working safely with hazardous chemicals and utilizing appropriate PPE.Coordinating with production teams, fellow maintenance personnel, and leadership to maintain high operational readiness.Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization.Supporting a 24/7 mission, including weekend and holiday rotations, similar to military watch standing or shift duties.Participating in onsite and offsite training programs to continue developing your technical skillset.What You BringMilitary experience in refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or utilities/plant operations preferred.Hands-on experience with ammonia refrigeration, compressor systems, or pump repair/rebuilds is highly valuable.Strong troubleshooting ability and comfort working in high-noise or extreme-temperature environments.Ability to work within strict safety, operational, and regulatory guidelines.A team-oriented attitude, strong communication skills, and the discipline and reliability that military service instills. Job 58806 Salary: $33-$36/hr. an all based on your experience. Most candidates will top out at $33/hr unless they have extensive industry experience.
