AI Forward Deployed EngineerLocation: San Francisco, CA — Hybrid, 4 days/weekCompensation: $150K–$250K base + meaningful equityExperience: 3–7 yearsTravel: Up to 30%, including international travelAbout the OpportunityWe’re recruiting for an early-stage, YC-backed AI startup building technology to automate complex, document-heavy workflows across operational industries.The company is experiencing rapid commercial growth and is looking for its first Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers and the founding team.This is a high-ownership role combining technical implementation, customer deployment, project management, and AI automation.What You’ll DoOwn customer deployments end-to-end, from sales handoff through stable production.Lead onboarding, implementation, training, and ongoing deployment work.Act as the technical bridge between customers and Engineering.Configure and tune AI agents and automated workflows around customer processes.Translate complex real-world workflows into scalable technical solutions.Build internal and customer-facing tooling to make deployments more efficient.Write and troubleshoot Python or TypeScript as needed.Manage multiple customer deployments and priorities simultaneously.Work directly with SMB, mid-market, and enterprise customers.What We’re Looking For3–7 years of relevant professional experience.Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Implementation Engineering, or a similar technical customer-facing position.Early-stage startup experience with meaningful ownership.Experience owning both the technical and project-management sides of customer deployments.Hands-on experience with AI agents and advanced LLM tooling.Ability to write and troubleshoot Python or TypeScript.Understanding of APIs and data flows.Strong project management and customer-facing communication skills.Experience working with SMB or mid-market customers.Interest or experience in operationally complex industries.Ability to work in San Francisco 4 days/week.Willingness to travel up to 30%, including internationally.Existing U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.Compensation: $150K–$250K base + equity.
