In 2025, Spectris was acquired by KKR, supporting continued investment in innovation, technology, and long-term growth.Position OverviewWe’re looking for an Android Quality Assurance Engineer to join our QA team in Andover, MA.This isn’t a typical mobile app QA position. You’ll be testing software that runs on our handheld analytical instruments, as well as Windows desktop applications used to calibrate and configure those instruments.As part of our QA team, you’ll work alongside experienced QA engineers while collaborating closely with software engineers, scientists, product managers, manufacturing, and technical support throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure every release meets our quality standards.Beyond software testing, you’ll work closely with the software engineering team to prepare Android software releases, including validating release packages generated through our automated build process, tagging releases in GitHub, maintaining release documentation, coordinating software localization, and supporting our international distributors.ResponsibilitiesPerform manual functional, regression, exploratory, integration, and release testing of Android applications running on SciAps handheld analyzers and Windows desktop calibration tools.Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and release validation procedures.Identify, document, and track software defects in Jira, verify bug fixes, and ensure release readiness through regression testing.Prepare Android software releases by validating release packages generated through our automated build process, tagging releases in GitHub, maintaining release documentation and release notes, coordinating software localization, and working closely with the software engineering team throughout the release process.Coordinate software localization with international distributors and translation partners, validate localized software, and support software deployments.Collaborate closely with software engineering, product management, manufacturing, scientists, and technical support to ensure high-quality software throughout the software development lifecycle.Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA, release management, and software development processes.QualificationsRequired3+ years of professional software QA experience in the U.S.Experience testing Android applications.Experience using Android Studio to test and validate Android applications.Experience with GitHub, including branches, tagging, software release workflows, and GitHub Actions.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.PreferredExperience testing scientific instrumentation or other hardware/software integrated products.Understanding of spectroscopy technologies, including XRF, LIBS, Raman, or NIR.Experience coordinating software localization and working with international distributors.EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.Job TypeFull-timeLocation: Andover, MA
