Veterinary Assistant

Parkway Animal Hospital is seeking an exceptional person to add to our team as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. We have been caring for pets in Lenexa, KS, for over 30 years! We are passionate about animal care and their well-being and want someone who shares this passion to join us!This position is open for qualified candidates. Previous experience working with animals in some capacity is preferred, but additional training will be provided. If you are passionate about exceptional care for pets and are looking for a career in animal care, come join our team!Some duties include:Basic care for animals in the clinicCleaning and maintenance of facilitySafe handling of animalsAdminister medications orally and by injectionPrepare prescriptions and fill prescriptions for patientsDraw blood for diagnosticsPrepare slides for cytologyPlace IV catheter in animalsPerforms lab testsPrepare surgery packs and sterilizes packsSafely administer vaccinations to animalsAdminister subcutaneous fluids to patients and monitor them while receiving fluidsProvide support, knowledge, and instruction in specialized areas to team membersAssist in surgery with animal patientsMonitor anesthesiaMonitor patients recovery after surgery, before and after extubationTake diagnostic quality x-raysAll other assistant duties associated with care of pets in our facilitySchedule:Varying shifts Monday - FridayNO Weekends or Holidays required!Four-day workweek between 7:30AM and 5:30PMThis job requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds. This job requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and the visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information.
