** Only candidates local to IL will be considered**Data Analyst (Finance)Our client in the insurance industry is seeking a Data Analyst (Finance) to join their growing finance team. This is a newly created role focused on supporting financial reporting, data integrity, and cross-system data workflows as the organization continues to modernize its systems and reporting infrastructure.This role is ideal for an early-career professional with 1–3 years of experience who has a strong foundation in data analysis, reporting, and financial data, and is comfortable working across multiple systems to ensure accurate, reliable insights for the business.Role OverviewThis position sits at the intersection of finance, data, and systems, supporting the finance team by managing and transforming data across platforms, maintaining reporting processes, and ensuring data accuracy across systems.You will work closely with the FP&A Manager and finance leadership to support reporting needs, improve workflows, and contribute to ongoing system enhancements.Key ResponsibilitiesData & ReportingCollect, validate, and consolidate data from multiple systems into centralized reporting outputsBuild, maintain, and update recurring financial and operational reports (primarily in Excel and reporting tools)Support dashboard development and reporting workflows (Tableau or similar tools)Respond to internal data requests, providing accurate and timely reportingData Transformation & SystemsWork with data across multiple systems, ensuring consistency and accuracySupport data transformation processes (ETL-style work), including cleaning, structuring, and validating dataAssist in maintaining and improving data workflows across platformsSupport data cleaning efforts using internal systems (e.g., FileMaker or similar tools)Finance & Data IntegrityAssist with financial data validation, ensuring accuracy across reporting outputsSupport month-end reporting processes and financial analysisIdentify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and data integrity issues across systemsProcess ImprovementIdentify opportunities to automate or streamline reporting processes (e.g., VBA, scripting, or workflow improvements)Document recurring processes and improve reporting efficiencyCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data flow and reporting accuracyQualificationsExperience1–3 years of experience in data analysis, financial analysis, reporting, or a related fieldExperience working in larger or mid-sized organizations with multiple systems and stakeholders preferredTechnical SkillsStrong Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables; VBA is a plus)Experience with data querying or transformation tools (SQL, ETL processes, or similar concepts)Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)Familiarity with databases or structured data environments (e.g., Access, data warehouses)Ability to work with and integrate data from multiple systemsFinance & Business KnowledgeExposure to financial data, reporting, or accounting conceptsExperience working with financial datasets or supporting finance teamsProfessional SkillsStrong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlinesComfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environmentStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teamsCurious mindset with a focus on understanding the “why” behind dataCompensation & BenefitsBase salary: $60,000 – $75,000 (depending on experience)Eligible for an annual bonus programComprehensive benefits packageWork EnvironmentInitial in-office onboarding and trainingTransition to primarily remote work1–2 days per month in office for team meetings and collaborationWhat Makes This Role UniqueOpportunity to work at the intersection of finance and data systemsExposure to multiple platforms and reporting toolsAbility to contribute to process improvements and system modernizationHigh visibility with finance leadership in a growing teamAt NextPlay Jobs, we believe great recruiting is personal, not transactional.
