Department of Asian American Studies Part-Time Lecturer PoolPOSITIONThe Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool.We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student centered to teach in the following subject areas:Introduction to Ethnic StudiesIntroduction to Asian Pacific American StudiesHistory of Asian Pacific AmericansAsian Pacific American Cultural StudiesAsian American Film and VideoAsian American WomenVietnamese Communities in the USVietnamese American ExperiencesMultiple Heritage Asian Americans and Pacific IslandersSouth Asian American ExperiencesKorean American ExperiencesWorld War II Japanese American EvacuationCivic Engagement Through Asian American and Pacific Islander StudiesSurvey of American History with Emphasis on Ethnic MinoritiesThis is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSABD doctoral candidate or Master's degree with substantial graduate course work in Asian American Studies, ethnic studies, or related fieldsExpertise in fields relevant to the Department of Asian American Studies curriculum.Evidence of prior relevant teaching, mentoring, or tutoring experienceEvidence of experience in relevant academic field or relevant professional/community-based experience.Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.Relevant work experience and professional capabilities, including non-traditional career backgrounds.HOW TO APPLYA complete online application must be submitted in order to receive consideration. Please direct all questions about the position to Dr. Tu-Uyen, Department Chair, at tunnguyen@fullerton.eduAPPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDARThe need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONRegular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.APPOINTMENT AND SALARYAll part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per monthAnticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per monthThe full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
