Forging Technician
About IBC:
IBC utilizes open die forging to create copper alloy products for aerospace, electronic, oil and gas and other commercial industries through the use of forging hammers, presses and ring rollers.
Forging Technician:
We are looking for an additional team member to join our forging operation who can assist in forging raw materials into finished parts. The ideal candidate would have experience in blacksmithing or other metal forming experience, is comfortable working with forklifts or heavy machinery, and has experience working in an industrial setting.
The forging technician is focused on the working and shaping of copper alloys in the form of rods, disks, rings and bars. Technicians utilize forklifts and manipulators to position parts on the forging hammers to create the shapes and sizes required. This position will utilize both open and closed die operations. This position is full time, first shift, with potential for overtime to satisfy customer demands.
Hands on training is provided for all forging operations including certifications for forklifts and manipulators.
Essential Duties:
Operate metal shaping equipment like hammers, ring-rollers, and hydraulic presses
Operate forklifts, manipulators and overhead cranes
Load and unload furnaces, scales and incoming materials
Assist with routine preventative maintenance of forge equipment
Perform quality inspections according to specifications
Minimum requirements
Must be able to work in a team environment
Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently, up to 100lbs occasionally
Must be able to stand for long periods of time in a hot work environment
Must be capable of repetitive motion with good hand to eye coordination
Must be able to measure and calculate weights and basic dimensions
Good verbal communication skills
Ability to pass required pre-employment physical and drug screening
Ability to pass background check
