The work includes among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, design calculations, specification development and construction documents. The role reports to the Department or Design Manager and routinely interacts with Plate Structures Engineers, Plate Structures Designers, Project Engineers and Managers.ResponsibilitiesThe Civil & Foundations Engineer is responsible for performing or checking the design and analysis of assigned deliverables on a CB&I project associated with foundation support systems for CB&I storage structures Over the course of time, capabilities for civil engineer will increase as the level of complexity of assignments increases and expectations expand for working independently with less supervision. Responsibilities Include:Design and analysis of foundations (both shallow and deep) for steel plate structures including flat bottomed cylindrical storage tanks, spheres, elevated tanks and other special structures.Provide reviews, comments and determination of soil parameters from factual and interpretive soil reports.Provide investigations and solutions on civil problems/issues in the field.Provide engineering design of special concrete structures including foundations.Provide engineering requirements for ground improvement/reinforcement methodologies to support steel plate structure foundations.Collaborate with drafters, modelers and detailers, as well as personnel from sales, estimating, operations and project management functionsQualificationsBachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Structural Engineering and/or Civil Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited school.0 to 10 years of industry experience in civil structural engineering / foundation engineering.Professional Engineering registered is desired.Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Skills and BehaviorsBusiness presence and polishKnowledge of CB&I products and marketsProactively identifies and solves the complex problemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsMentally agile and ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlinesProven negotiating ability with high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated business partnering skills with the ability to influence the organizationAdaptability and agility to learn and contribute in varying and complex environmentsA mature business and technical acumen coupled with a drive to achieve resultsExceptional communication and presentation skill, both written and verbalAbility to work and build credibility across the business, up to and including senior management levelProactively embraces and promotes the company's values and culture, including diversity & inclusion and a healthy and safe work environment
