Veterinary Assistant

Veterinary Assistant We are looking for a dedicated and caring Veterinary Assistant to be cross trained in all areas of the hospital, such as client service, animal care and cleaning and veterinary technician duties. Veterinary Assistants will support our veterinarians, technicians and clients, while providing outstanding care to our patients all while supporting our hospital's Mission and Vision:To Provide Outstanding Care for Every Client and Every Patient, Every DayTampa Bay Vets is a busy, AAHA accredited animal hospital practice with 8 locations in Tampa, FL. We have board certified DVM's and certified technicians on staff!Job responsibilities (partial list):Complete client and patient check-ins and treatmentsGreet/assist clients in reception, answer phonesCheck out clients, take payments and provide estimatesPerform opening procedures, clerical tasksTake exceptional care of hospitalized/boarding animals (feeding, walking, cleaning)Bath, brush and trim nailsExercise and walk animalsCollect laboratory specimens from patients and prepare them for testing.Assist veterinarians with patient examinations and proceduresCalculate drug dosages correctly and prepare prescriptionsTreat every patient like they were your ownEnter medical records in Practice Management softwareGive excellent client service and educationQualifications and Skills:Willingness to be cross trained in all departmentsWorking experience required, and experience in an animal hospital/environmentAttention to detailAbility to multitask and take initiativeAbility to work in stressful situations while making sound decisionsCustomer service skills and love of animalsExcellent prioritization and efficiencyMust be able to lift patients up to 40 pounds alone, and patients over 50 pounds with assistanceBenefits and Perks:Higher than normal pay ranges with incentives using a Pay for Performance compensation systemPay range from $17-$20 depending on experience and skill level- decided by manager at interview401k retirement plan with matching contributionsMedical, Dental, Vision and Supplemental InsurancePaid Time OffContinuing Education allowanceUniform allowanceEmployee pet care benefits (Wellness, Dentistry, Medications and Food)Tuition Reimbursement for Veterinary Technician schoolProfessional developmentCandidates moving through our hiring process will be interviewed, have a background/drug screen, and their previous employers called for references.
