Full Job Description: Occupational Therapist Salary Grade: Business Grade 08/ BG-08Tulsa Public Schools’ existing salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or years of creditable service. For more information about the salary for this specific position please review the Salary Schedule for the corresponding Salary Grade (listed above).For more information on our comprehensive benefits packages, please visit: Compensation and Benefits website .Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist works as an itinerant therapist to provide educationally necessary therapeutic intervention in the area of motor skill development, focusing primarily on visual motor, fine motor, bilateral coordination, self-help, and sensorimotor development. Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from age 3 throughgrade 12.Key FunctionsConduct standardized and informal assessments to determine students' need for occupational therapy servicesDevelop and deliver direct, collaborative, monitor, and consultative therapeutic services aligned to IEP goalsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and outside agencies to support student progressMaintain compliant documentation in EdPlan and meet District, State, and Federal special education requirementsSupervise Occupational Therapy Assistants when assigned, in accordance with State OTA supervision guidelinesEducationMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university Experience:Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing occupational therapy servicesLicenses And CertificationsNational certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (NBCOT)State of Oklahoma certification/licensure as a special service provider in the area of Occupational TherapyValid driver's license required (role is itinerant and requires travel between school sites)Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of and demonstrated use of appropriate standardized assessment tools and treatment techniques in the area of motor and sensorimotor skill developmentApplied knowledge of motor and sensorimotor therapeutic treatments and modalities to assist in improving students' educational performanceKnowledge of school-based occupational therapy servicesKnowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology that may be required to address access needs of children with disabilitiesKnowledge of District, State, and Federal special education regulations as they relate to school-based OT servicesAbility to develop and implement individual educational plan goals and objectives relating to motor and sensorimotor skill development in the school settingAbility to develop and implement OT service delivery models, such as direct, collaborative, monitor, and consultativeAbility to prioritize, organize, and manage workload autonomouslyAbility to communicate effectively with other professionalsAbility to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of students, teachers, and schoolsAbility to drive to various schools to provide itinerant occupational therapy services to students on caseloadAbility to perform basic office operational duties, including use of computer, time-off reporting, EdPlan, printers, and completion of mileage formsAbility to work collaboratively with others on a teamAbout Our District: At Tulsa Public Schools, our mission is to inspire and prepare every student to love learning, achieve ambitious goals, and make positive contributions to our world.
