Senior Cloud Engineer — Hybrid in San Francisco, CAWe're seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to play a key role in building and operating scalable observability and infrastructure platforms supporting large-scale production microservices. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and observability systems, along with the ability to operate independently and own components end-to-end in production environments.Candidates should demonstrate extensive use of generative AI tools for code generation and production system troubleshooting.Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and operate observability platforms (logging, metrics, tracing) for production microservices- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters across multi-region environments- Own CI/CD pipelines using Argo CD and Helm- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform on AWS- Operate monitoring ecosystems including OpenSearch/ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and Kafka- Build automation to detect and remediate production issues- Ensure security compliance through vulnerability patching- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response- Contribute to distributed system design and operationsRequired SkillsGeneral- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field- 8+ years of experience in DevOps and/or SRE platform engineeringIncident Response & On-Call- 24/7 production environment experience including alert triage, leading incident response, writing post-incident reviews, and maintaining SLAs across large-scale distributed systemsIaC & Automation- Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent IaC tooling for provisioning cloud infrastructure at scale on AWSScripting & Development- Working proficiency in Python, Golang, and/or Bash for automation, operational tooling, and CI/CD pipeline integrations (Drone, GitHub Actions, Argo CD)Kubernetes & Container Orchestration- Production experience operating Kubernetes at large scale (hundreds of deployments, thousands of pods) including Helm chart management, pod scheduling, resource tuning, and multi-cluster operationsObservability Stack- Hands-on experience in at least two of: OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Prometheus/Mimir, Grafana, Loki, Splunk, Logstash — including pipeline design, query optimization, and capacity planning for high-volume environmentsDesired Skills- Apache Kafka / AWS MSK at scale (topic configs, ACLs, consumer lag, schema registries)- Splunk administration with Kubernetes-based log shipping architectures- OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing- Security frameworks (FedRAMP, STIG, IL5, ISO 27001, SOC 2) and container hardening (Anchore, Grype)- AI-augmented operations using LLMs, Copilot, Claude, or custom AI agents to accelerate workflows, automate runbooks, and assist with incident triage- GitOps deployment patterns with Argo CD and Helm bundles across multi-region clusters- Cost optimization and capacity planning in large-scale logging and metrics platforms
