An Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing kitchen staff and ensuring the quality of food items. Their duties include hiring and training staff to cook their dishes, expediting orders to maintain a steady flow of dishes and creating dishes to add to the menu. Here at Insight Chicago, we strive to provide the best services to our patients, visitors and staff and meet their needs to the best of our abilities. This includes providing meals with respect to their dietary restrictions and nutritional needs.Executive Chefs complete a variety of creative, organizational and leadership tasks to ensure a kitchen runs optimally and patrons' meals are satisfactory. Their responsibilities frequently include:develop unique and cuisine appropriate menuscollaborate with administration to set item priceswork with dietician to create meals based on therapeutic dietsstay current on developing trends in the restaurant industrymaintain kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet company standards and health code regulationsensure quality of food items and service, including presentationestimating food requirements and food/labor costsmonitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendorshiring, training, and supervising kitching staffassisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating, and deliverypreparing meals and completing prep support as neededarrange equipment purchases and repairsrectify arising problems and complaintsperform administrative dutieskeep time and payroll recordsstep into various roles as neededSkills and Qualificationscompletion of professional certification, diploma, or degree in culinary arts/sciencecompletion of CFPM certificationproven experience as head chefadvanced culinary skills including food preparation, flavor pairings, and other cooking best practicesability to develop unique recipes to meet restrictions including those based on health and religious beliefsin-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local food handling regulationscomfortable training, directing, and supervising kitchen staffexceptional leadership skills, including motivation and goal-settingexcellent communication and interpersonal skillstime management and organizationThese duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, following the mission, values, and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center.
