Senior Real Estate/Property Accountant

As our Senior Property Accountant, you'll lead critical financial functions for our Property Management Division bringing a higher level of ownership to complex accounting activities and making a meaningful impact on the day-to-day financial health of our properties. This is an in-office position based in Bloomington, MN.Position Purpose: The Sr. Property Accountant will prepare monthly financial reporting for residential properties, including financial review, monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. You will work with a portfolio of properties with various levels of complex accounting. You will ensure that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time. You will be key in assisting the Accounting Manager with the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures as well as operational strategies.Essential Functions:Accounts Payable and Receivable ManagementApprove invoices and process checksEnsure timely payment of bills and collection of rentsMaintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivableMonitor debt levels and compliance with lender debt covenantsManage payment workflowsMaintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.Manage invoice inboxFinancial ReportingEnsure that all projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on timePrepare monthly financial statements to investors and lendersEstablish a system of internal controls to ensure timely and accurate reportingCoordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reportsPrepare, consolidate, and review monthly financial statementsCalculate and report monthly financial and operating metrics to senior leadershipWhitecap credit card processing and reportingManage the accounting on multiple, complex, multi-family propertiesBank ReconciliationPerform bank reconciliations and prepare year-end papers for outside tax accountantsPrepare monthly bank reconciliations, A/P, and A/RBudgeting and ForecastingSupport site property teams by participating in budgeting and cash flow forecastingPrepare annual budgets and operating expense reconciliationAnalyze budget variances and report significant issuesAccounting SupportPrepare year-end audit/tax packagesBe the first point of contact for questions for junior accounting team membersAssist with mentoring and training accountants on the teamComplianceMaintain and improve accounting policies and proceduresAssist in preparation of tax returns and compliance with tax regulationsMaintain records for property tax assessments and paymentsRequired Skills / Abilities:Experience preparing and analyzing financial statementsCash flow experienceExperience with balance sheet managementMust be a self-starter and be able to work independentlyAnalytical ability to develop and implement improvements and recommendationsMust have great attention to detailHighly proficient in Excel and Microsoft applicationsEducation / Experience:5 to 7 years of relevant experience in accounting or accounting-related field3 to 5 years minimum experience in real estate/property management and commercial accountingYardi Voyager experience requiredMust have a valid drivers license and reliable source of transportationCompensation details: 82000-90000 Yearly SalaryPIda9e049b75ab-26289-40437790
