Construction Project Manager (Retail Construction)

We operate with urgency, accountability, and a no-excuses mindset.Role OverviewWe are looking for a high-performing Project Manager who takes full ownership of their projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is not for someone who needs hand-holding. You will be responsible for driving schedule, controlling budget, managing risk, and delivering a polished final product in demanding, fast-paced environments.If you thrive under pressure, stay organized in chaos, and hold your team accountable, you will do well here.ResponsibilitiesOwn and drive all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through completion.Develop, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules while driving accountability to milestones and recovery plans when needed.Control project budgets, schedules, subcontractor buyouts, and client communication.Lead coordination across architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.Review drawings, specifications, and submittals with a sharp eye for gaps, scope conflicts, and risk.Run projects in Procore including RFIs, submittals, daily logs, and financial tracking with discipline and consistency.Lead weekly OAC meetings with clear direction and accountability and issue concise, actionable meeting minutes.Prepare and present clear, accurate project updates and deliverables to executive leadership including schedule status, financial tracking, risk items, and key decisions required.Identify risks early, solve problems quickly, and keep projects moving without delays.Hold superintendents, APMs, and vendors accountable to performance and deadlines.Qualifications5+ years of experience managing commercial and retail interior construction projects.Proven ability to build, manage, and recover project schedules.Proven ability to run multiple projects at different stages without losing control.Strong understanding of construction sequencing, budgeting, and subcontractor management.Proficiency in Procore with scheduling tools a plus.Clear communicator who can lead meetings, push back when needed, and confidently report to leadership.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.What We OfferCompetitive salary with performance-based bonuses tied to results.Healthcare contribution, 401k, and paid time off.Real growth opportunity within a company scaling aggressively in NYC.A high-performance environment where accountability is expected and rewarded.
