Baker/Cake Decorator

Retreat Bakery Bar is a family-owned and operated dessert bakery bar that seeking a talented baker/cake decorator to join our team! The baker/cake decorator will be responsible for baking daily pastries and preparing recipes, decorating cakes and desserts, setting displays, and assisting with managing inventory. This position has a 5am start time and requires availability on both Saturdays and Sundays every week. Do not apply if you do not meet this requirement. No exceptions will be made to the scheduling requirement. Potential candidates must have: Proven experience working as a baker/decorator in a professional kitchen (minimum year) Demonstrable knowledge of professional baking and patisserie methods, techniques, and skills. Good sense of planning and preparation for the day ahead. The ability to produce baked items and decorate cakes and dessert items according to established bakery standards. The ability to follow instructions accurately. The ability to follow recipes and prepare menu items in accordance with established procedures. The ability to produce consistently prepared items every time. The ability to monitor product on hand, ingredients, supplies, and equipment. An understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures The ability to take direction. Commitment to quality service and product knowledge. The ability to monitor product on hand, ingredients, supplies, and equipment. The ability to speak, read and understand professional cooking/baking directions. Effective conflict resolution skills, professional and cooperative demeanor, and a positive and energetic attitude are imperative. Create and maintain a positive working relationship with all employees in both front and back of house. Demonstrate a positive attitude even under pressure and work collaboratively with coworkers/owners to maintain a pleasant work environment for all employees. Ability to recognize and solve problems effectively. Efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Advanced knowledge of baking/patisserie culinary techniques. Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, turn, lift, endure changing temperatures (hot/cold), walk on uneven ground, and carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
