Hansell Tierney is partnering with an innovative aerospace engineering organization to identify an Environments Engineer to join their growing team.Location: Mojave, California – onsite. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonus or other incentive compensation.POSITION SUMMARYA leading aerospace organization is seeking Senior, Staff, or Principal Environmental Analysis Engineers to support environmental test level analysis for advanced flight vehicles and carrier aircraft platforms. Environmental testing is critical to mission success and involves all subsystems. This role will collaborate across disciplines to define requirements, engineer solutions, and evaluate the effects of environmental conditions such as vibration, thermal, and shock on components and systems.Essential ResponsibilitiesDevelop analytical environmental test levels for random vibration, thermal, and shock conditionsApply established test standards to guide test level developmentRecommend test level margins and assess associated risksProcess flight test data and update test levels and margins as neededProvide guidance to other analysis engineersCollaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to engineer technical solutionsCoordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to meet technical and program requirementsSupport external coordination for range integration, safety documentation, and payload integrationPrepare presentations and contribute to design reviews throughout vehicle developmentEvaluate risks and risk mitigation strategiesCommunicate regularly with program leadershipContribute to integration of complex aerospace systemsTravel as needed to support departmental and customer activitiesDemonstrate accountability, integrity, and follow-throughQualifications & SkillsRequired Qualifications:Experience with random vibration, thermal, and shock test level predictionsAbility to generate PSDs and SRSs from time history accelerometer dataFamiliarity with environmental test standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, DO-160, RCC-319-19)Experience managing test level margins (e.g., uncertainty, workmanship, qualification)Knowledge of fatigue-based time-scaling for vibration testingAbility to perform analysis comparing vibration PSD to SRSUnderstanding of fatigue damage spectra and rainflow cycle countingExcellent written communication and documentation skillsAbility to adapt to changing priorities and work independentlyExperience with complex aerospace system developmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience with advanced vibration data analysis techniques and toolsExperience supporting flight termination system requirementsFamiliarity with Ground Vibration Testing (GVT)Experience operating in mission control or flight operations environmentsActive security clearanceTechnical SkillsRequired:MATLAB or equivalentMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Preferred:Symvionics IADSFinite Element Analysis toolsFamiliarity with configuration management systems (e.g., Jira)Education & ExperienceSenior: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) and 5–10 years of experience, or equivalent combinationStaff: Bachelor’s degree and 10–20 years of experience, or equivalent combinationPrincipal: Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of experience, or equivalent combinationAdditional DetailsOn-site position based in Southern CaliforniaTravel required up to approximately 5%Relocation support availableAbout Hansell Tierney:Hansell Tierney is one of the premier staffing and recruiting companies in the Pacific Northwest.
