Senior DB2, PostgreSQL & SQL Server DBA – AWS Experience: 10+ YearsJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong expertise in IBM DB2, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server environments hosted on AWS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database architecture, administration, migration, performance optimization, automation, security, backup, recovery, and high availability across enterprise database platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and support DB2, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server databases in AWS and hybrid environments.Install, configure, patch, upgrade, monitor, and troubleshoot database platforms.Design and maintain highly available, scalable, secure, and disaster-recovery database solutions.Manage AWS database services, including Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, EC2-hosted databases, AWS DMS, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, S3, and Secrets Manager.Lead on-premises-to-AWS database migrations, upgrades, conversions, and modernization initiatives.Configure and support DB2 HADR, PostgreSQL streaming replication, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.Perform database performance analysis, SQL tuning, query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and resource utilization reviews.Develop and maintain backup, restoration, point-in-time recovery, replication, and disaster-recovery procedures.Monitor database availability and performance and resolve production incidents within established SLAs.Implement database security, encryption, access controls, auditing, compliance, and vulnerability-remediation standards.Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell, Python, Bash, SQL, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.Support database refreshes, cloning, data replication, schema changes, and production deployments.Collaborate with application, cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, security, and development teams.Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and disaster-recovery runbooks.Participate in production support, incident management, root-cause analysis, and on-call rotations.Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance on database and AWS best practices.Required Skills10+ years of enterprise database administration experience.Strong hands-on experience with IBM DB2 LUW, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.Advanced experience managing databases on AWS.Expertise in Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, EC2, AWS DMS, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, S3, and Secrets Manager.Strong knowledge of DB2 HADR, PostgreSQL replication, and SQL Server Always On.Experience with database migrations from on-premises environments to AWS.Strong knowledge of performance tuning, execution plans, indexing, query optimization, and capacity planning.Experience with backup, recovery, high availability, replication, failover, and disaster-recovery testing.Proficiency in SQL and database automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.Understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, data protection, and regulatory compliance.Experience supporting mission-critical production databases in high-availability environments.Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.Preferred QualificationsAWS Certified Database – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent certification.IBM DB2, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server certification.Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with AWS SCT, database modernization, containerized databases, and Kubernetes.Experience working in Agile, DevOps, and ITIL-based production environments.EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.About Ancile Inc.Ancile Inc. is a technology consulting and workforce solutions company delivering specialized IT talent and innovative digital solutions across the United States.
