Position Type:Administration/Assistant PrincipalDate Posted:3/11/2025Location:Elementary SchoolDate Available:SY 25/26Closing Date:Until FilledCERTIFIEDLAME DEER PUBLIC SCHOOLSDISTRICT #6JOB DESCRIPTIONASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (Elementary School)QUALIFICATIONS:Completed district employment applicationMust pass a background checkCurrent Montana Administrative CertificateAppropriate Administrative endorsementFive years of successful teaching experienceThree years of previous administrative experience preferredMust be able to successfully complete performance responsibilities listed belowAny other qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and/or acceptable REPORTS TO:Elementary Principal, Superintendent, Board of TrusteesSUPERVISES:Members of the certified and support staff as directedTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by negotiations with the School Board.EVALUATION:To be performed annually and in accordance with School Board Policy.JOB GOAL:To assist the Elementary Principal in the smooth, efficient, and effective administration of the elementary school, and programs and events being offered.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):Supervise the daily opening of school routinesAdminister an attendance system that accurately reports and records student, school, and class attendanceImplement and maintain a school program to discourage tardiness and absenteeismWork closely and continuously to identify poor school and class attendance patterns and minimize delay between recognizing patterns and referrals to guidance for follow-up actionAdminister disciplinary programs which are appropriate to the misbehavior of students and which are consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school and the school DistrictMeet periodically with teachers, teaching teams, and various parent-teacher groups to review the code of conduct and to discuss problems or changes that seek continued program improvementMeet with teaching teams to discuss and develop remedial plans for students experiencing behavior problemsAssist the Principal in the observation and supervision of faculty membersObserve each faculty member as designed by the Principal in accordance with the supervision model of the school DistrictCounsel teachers observed who have performance deficiencies and recommend specific direction for corrective action and plan for follow-up supervisionParticipate or chair meetings at the discretion or request of the Principal, and in the preparation of meeting agendas as requiredWork as a team member in the District supervisory structure, and support decisions made by fellow administrators in an effort to maintain positive staff moraleCounsel individual students, and when necessary, make appropriate referrals for testing, guidance, or psychological counselingResolve all discipline problems in a fair and just manner, and maintain records of any disciplinary actions takenAssist in interpretation of school programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and communityCooperate with community and government agencies on student problemsProvide guidance and counseling to students, parents, and teachers on problems relating to student behavior, concerns, and attendance.Assist and cooperate with the school administration and teachers in developing and implementing policies to effect positive student behavior in the schoolSupervise extracurricular activities as assigned by the PrincipalOther duties assignedAN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION / EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: This employer does not knowingly discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.Attachment(s):Assistant Principal_ELEMENTARY_JD.pdf
