Looking to make a difference in the lives of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities? This position may be for you. In this role you will be assisting kitchen staff in providing meals to our residents, helping them enjoy their meal, and having positive interactions with the residents. POSITION: DIETARY AIDE, Hourly – Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Food Service Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Residential – Park Lawn Center SALARY: $21.55 PER HOUR OPENING: FULL-TIME Rotating days and weekends (1:30PM-7:30PM) QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School Diploma or GED 2. At least 18 years of age 3. No disqualifying events on criminal background check 4. No disqualifying events on Health Care Workers Registry 5. Pass pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol test BASIC FUNCTION: To assist in the preparation of participants’ meals and for providing a safe, healthy and pleasant eating environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE EMPLOYEE TO BE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY PERFORM THE FOLLOWING: Pass DSP classroom and OJT program approved by Illinois DHS Understand written and oral English Language Record observations in participants’ files Write legible, clear, and accurate observations in standard English Lift 50 pounds without assistance Stand, sit, walk, reach, grip, bend and lift as assessed by job analysis screening Remain free of alcohol and/or illegal substance use while working Become CPR/1st Aid certified and remain certified throughout employment POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the preparation of food under the direction of the cook. Set tables and serve meals to participants, and assist with family style dining. Operate dishwasher and complete hand washing of all utensils, pots and pans after meals. Assist in storing of foods and supplies, including completion of inventories. Complete kitchen and dining room clean up after meals, cleaning all tables, chairs and counters, cleaning of all appliances and equipment used in preparation of the meal. Complete thorough cleaning of all food service areas and appliances according to department schedules, policies and procedures. Complete daily and weekly cleaning responsibility sheets. Maintain standards of work schedule and dress. Attend food service department meetings when necessary. Provide other services and assistance as deemed necessary by the Food Service Supervisor/Administration. Work and cooperate with staff from other departments. Work independently. Attend in-service meetings and seminars.
